Netflix MAID Limited Series is a Must Watch!

Netflix MAID

Netflix MAID will have you hooked after the first episode.

Hard Work. Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive!

My beautician told me about this new drama series on Saturday while rolling my hair at her salon (like she does every Saturday morning at 8am).

She explained to me that the series was about a young mother who leaves an abusive boyfriend in the middle of the night with no place to go and no job.

I have to admit I was hesitant at first, but decided to give it a try since I would be sitting under the dryer for a hour. Besides I have the Netflix app on my phone and hadn’t used it in awhile. I was hooked 15 minutes into the first episode.

Inspired by the New York Times best-selling memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land, MAID follows the story of Alex (Margaret Qualley), a single mother who turns to housecleaning to — barely — make ends meet as she escapes an abusive relationship and overcomes homelessness to create a better life for her daughter, Maddy. Seen through the emotional yet humorous lens of a desperate but determined woman, this series is a raw and inspiring exploration of a mother’s resilience.

Change Your Life. Rewrite Your Story.

Spoiler Alert: Anika Noni Rose (Regina) acts her butt off as a snobby and wealthy woman whose house Alex is responsible for cleaning. Even though she treats Alex like crap when they first meet, life will have her humbling herself and she finds out she needs Alex just as much as Alex needs her cleaning job.
