Singer Ledisi who is set to portray Mahalia Jackson in ‘Remember Me,’ has been inducted into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority as an honorary member.

She joins Michelle J. Howard (U.S. Navy’s first woman to become a four-star admiral), Abby Phillip (CNN’s senior political correspondent and anchor), Joy-Ann Reid(host of MSNBC’s The Reidout), Ambassador Shabazz (diplomat and eldest daughter of Malcolm X) and Collette V. Smith (NFL’s first Black woman coach), who were all inducted at the sorority’s 55th national convention in Atlanta, Georgia.
The singer also recently shared a new pic of herself in costume for the Mahalia Jackson biopic for which she is set to star alongside Columbus Short.
