On Thursday, the iconic British fashion designer passed away at the age of 81. She brought politics to the world of high fashion.

I just use fashion as an excuse to talk about politics. Because I’m a fashion designer, it gives me a voice, which is really good.

She passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family in Clapham, South London, a representative for the designer confirmed.

Dame Vivienne Westwood designs have also been seen on celebrities like Beyoncé, Rihanna and Diana Ross to name a few.
