Tyler Perry is bringing Madea out of retirement ya’ll when his new Netflix film A Madea Homecoming premieres in February on the streaming service.
The latest chapter in the franchise centers around the family Matriarch great-grandson’s college graduation. However, the celebratory moment hits a halt as hidden secrets and family drama threaten to destroy the happy reunion.
Even though we are yet to know what those hidden secrets are, Perry did reveal to Entertainment Weekly that the film will involve an LGBTQ+ storyline. In doing so, Perry hopes the film will send a message of inclusion to audiences.
“How long does it have to be before you understand something?” he shared with the publication. “Even if you don’t understand, be open… I just think that if everything gets accepted in love, then you get a chance to see the person for who they are rather than what you think they are.”
David and Tamela Mann, and Cassi Davis are all reviving their characters for the latest installment, as well as a guest appearance from Brendan O’Carroll as Agnes Brown.
