Kirk Franklin was lied to his entire life about who his biological father was, but God has a way of revealing all things in His time….

In a 35 minute documentary released on his YouTube page, the award winning Gospel singer is documenting his upcoming album when he finds out that the man be buried a couple years ago was not his biological father.

You mean to tell me that my mother lied to me again?

Kirk takes a DNA test to confirm the news that Rick Hubbard, a man who lives right down the street from his recording studio is actually his father. Angry, lost and confused Kirk first goes to meet Mr. Hubbard. In an emotional scene Kirk shares the DNA results with an emotional Mr. Hubbard who didn’t know Kirk was his son. The two embrace.

Kirk then confronts his biological mother Debra Jones who insists that it’s a lie and demands another DNA test.

You not knowing how to love, made me not know how to love. I have fought my whole life not knowing how to fully love my wife, not fully love people. I love through fear, I love through performance. I always wanted people to like me, because I always wanted to be accepted by understandably the two people that I wanted to love me the most, my mom and my dad.

Kirk, his mother and Mr. Hubbard take another DNA test and it also confirms that Mr. Hubbard is Kirk’s biological father.

I was that close to having a daddy, I wanted a daddy so bad.

Kirk’s mom double downs on her lie, he then makes the hard decision….. If she can’t give him what he needs ( the truth!) then he can’t give her what she wants..to be close to her son.
