Jennifer Hudson and Chris Stapleton had the crowd on their feet during their powerful performance of “Night Life” and “You Are My Sunshine” during the 55th Annual CMA Awards.
The two collaborated to celebrate the late Aretha Franklin’s life and career. In true J-Hud fashion, not only did she channel her inner Aretha during her performance, her outfit was giving Queen of Soul vibes as well.
This was the first time the star of the acclaimed Aretha Franklin biographical musical drama “Respect,” performed on the CMA stage and she didn’t disappoint.
Night Life was originally recorded by Willie Nelson and Aretha Franklin remade it in 1967.
