Adams was also honored during Black Enterprise 16th annual Legacy Awards last weekend.

During her acceptance speech she spoke passionately all of the women who have helped inspire her by sharing how she inspires them through her music.

“My life is a collection of the ups and downs and I’m one who has survived as most of you have because we don’t have the luxury of giving up as women,” Adams said.

Kelly Price, Yola and queen of dancehall Spice are also being honored during the Black Women in Media celebration.

The private event will be held Friday, April 1st at a historic venue in Las Vegas, Nevada.
