Amazon and The Rock host private screening of ‘Red One’ at Watts Empowerment Center
Amazon MGM Studios and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosted a special advance screening of its highly anticipated holiday action-comedy ‘Red One’ at the Watts Empowerment Center as well as blessed families with new bus and stem toys.
The exclusive event that took place on Thursday evening at Cinemark Baldwin Hills in Los Angeles offered these families a first look at the film before its theatrical release today and included a surprise appearance by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
During the event, Amazon donated a bus to the Watts Empowerment Center, enabling safe transportation for children to school, elderly to medical appointments, and families on outings and field trips. The Watts Empowerment Center is a state-of-the-art facility where families in Watts Housing Projects can discover their purpose while developing their talents with the help of top industry and business professionals.
Amazon also gifted STEM-education focused toys from the Wondery Kids x Wow in the World new toy line to support educational initiatives in the community. The Mattel Children’s Foundation provided items tied to key Mattel toys featured in “Red One,” including Hot Wheels and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, along with iconic brands such as Barbie, UNO, and MEGA.
Additional gifts and snacks were provided by Bricks & Wood, a South Central, Los Angeles based apparel company, and Salt & Straw, a Portland-based ice cream company. Salt & Straw developed several flavors inspired by the film, including Red’s Cookie Platter with Eggnog Custard and Krampus’ Mince Pie with Pecan Crust, which were served to attendees at the event.
“Red One,” the family film of the holiday season, follows the adventure that unfolds when Santa Claus (code name: Red One) is kidnapped. The North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.
